The New Nature Is Righteous

  • Self-awareness is our ability to accurately perceive our own emotions in the moment and understand your tendencies across situations.
    • A keen understanding of our tendencies (bents of thinking) is important; it helps us quickly make sense of our emotions, thoughts and self-talk.
    • A high degree of self-awareness requires a willingness to tolerate the discomfort of focusing on negative or destructive aspects of our personality.
    • As we develop self-awareness, we will be able to cut to the core quickly in knowing yourself and this is vital to renewing your mind.
  • Self-awareness allows some of the following:

  • We stop treating feelings as either good or bad
    • We learn the ripple effects from our choices
    • Know who and what pushes our buttons
    • Walk more circumspect, watching ourselves as a hawk
    • Ask ourselves why we do the things we do
    • Examine and check our motivation often
    • Seek feedback and accountability from diverse sources
    • Take control of our self-talk
    • Know what to do with what makes us uncomfortable
  • Greatest challenge to self-awareness:

OBJECTIVITY – The Holy Spirit becomes our objective friend that can correct us through redemptive methods. He does that through the Word, His Presence and the process of discipleship.

    Biblical self-awareness is our desire.
