Prayers & Proclamations

Quote from the book, "Prayers and Proclamations."

Suppose people are speaking or even praying against you. Your remedy is Isaiah 54:17, on which the following proclamation is based:

No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper, and every
tongue which rises against me in judgment I do condemn. This is my heritage as a servant of the LORD, and my righteousness is from You, O LORD of Hosts.

Ruth and I used to say this every night before going to sleep. When we confess that our righteousness is from the Lord, this is the reason we can condemn the tongues that accuse us. It is because they are refusing God’s righteousness and that always means being on the losing side.

I would like to make clear, too, that we would say, “If there are those who speak against us or are seeking evil for us, we forgive them. And having forgiven them, we bless them in the name of the Lord.” We always seek to replace the negative with the positive.
